The Glen Iris residence is a design that responds to the vision for natural light, gracious entertaining areas, and inspiration from Japanese architectural forms. The end result leads to beautifully crafted horizontal and vertical elements created from precast concrete panels, timber cladding and metal panel work. Added to the finishing touches of the exterior are large geometric openings and protruding wooden louvres.
The occupant upon entry is lead through the open flowing spaces via the corridor, that quickly opens to a west facing courtyard and staircase. A shared kitchen and dining follows, with an adjacent living space formed by a double height void extending outdoors to shelter the entertaining area below. This rear part of the dwelling is the highlight of the design with full height windows and large openings to draw in plenty of natural light, create a sense of indoor and outdoor space through the continuous burnished slab and creating a picturesque view to the rear yard and pool.
