The Altona Meadows residence is a play on contemporary forms which have been derived from the angles of the site. The brickwork and weatherboard cladding reflect the surrounding neighbourhood character and is contrasted with timber cladding to the rear as well as with timber highlights to be a point of both material difference and interest. The roof line plays off the typical roof forms in the area, however is modified with the pitch being off-center, to create a sense of asymmetry. As well as being an architectural feature of the façade, the aluminium eyebrows to the windows also act to provide passive shading from the sun therefore reducing the thermal heat load in the dwelling.
